University of Phoenix

Having served and taking a correspondance course I can appreciate how far we've come due to technology. University of Phoenix offers a course listed as Associates of Arts Degrees through Credit Recognition. It offers college courses and gives credit for military and life experiences and offers national testing programs. I feel that this is important because of the world situation today. People of all walks of life suddenly find themselves where they least expected to be. If they were in school and suddenly found themselves overseas, it offers a way for life to continue while serving their country. Everyone deserves and education and an attempt to continue what has been started to improve their lives.

OK - this is weird, since you are sitting in the same room, on another computer! But, I'll comment on your blog anyway. First, I want to say that I am very proud of your military/Navy history. It's wonderful today, that many colleges are recognizing that life experience is worthy of college credit. So, while you specifically discuss those individuals in the military, Universities such as University of Phoenix, Indiana State, etc that have distance learning degrees also offer life credits to adults who may not have had the opportunity in the past. An educated individual has the promise of much better, healthier life. Berry

I have only been working in Distance Learning for 2 years. I can remember one of the first things I heard in DL was that Phoenix Online is our competition. I also heard that degrees from Phoenix online are not as highly regarded as those earned from our institution.
After learning more about Phoenix I can say that I do not share the same sentiment. For me, anything that helps people, especially our military personnel, get the education they want and need is a important and necessary. Thank you for your post Elliott.
